Will 2020 be the year of Silent Hill?

I still remember when, back in 2012, we had like 4 Silent Hill major releases: Silent Hill HD Collection (which ended up being a whole chaotic mess), Downpour, a brand new and promising take on the series. The strange “Book of Memories” for PS Vita and finally but not least, Revelation 3D, the second, and who knows, last installment of the movies adaptations.

If we think… We’ve been waiting for news for 8 years! Every year the question is the same: Is this the year? Will we get a new Silent Hill? The answer has been no… Well, I’m actually not mentioning the one time we had something… Back in 2014, when Konami released a Playable Teaser for a game called… Silent Hills! It was only released on Playstation 4 and it was a huge success! Not only it had Hideo Kojima taking the control, it also had the well known writer and director Guillermo Del Toro involved. We actually managed to get a second trailer, but one year later, Konami managed to cancel it. Kojima then left the company, and our hopes drowned for good.

Five years later, Silent Hill still stands in the mind of its fans… Everytime I search for news about it, I actually come across some rumors that mention its comeback to be soon. But that comeback never comes…

“Sony and Konami had a meeting about Silent Hill, they talked and that was that. The contents of the meeting were allegedly pretty confidential and only high tier staff knew about this.

[…] The game started development late 2017, early 2018. The studio working on it is an American studio hand picked by Konami. The story itself was described to me as a redo of Silent Hill Homecoming.

[…] You play as a Veteran of a fictional war that has just ended in the games timeline and you’re going back home which of course leads him through Silent Hill. The MC ends up exiting at a bus stop in Silent Hill which at this point in the game is completely normal and checks himself into a motel and after going to bed for the night awakens to find the town overrun with fog and the game actually begins.
